Autumn Term 2023
All our sections had another fantastic term last Autumn – having fun, participating in outdoor activities, working with others and learning new skills for life.
Highlights for our Beaver Colonies included joining other colonies from across Richmond Borough at the District Fun Day in September where they won the annual Friendship Cub – congratulations Beavers! They also completed their Explore Badges in Richmond Park.
The Cub Packs enjoyed their Mummy & Halloween themed meetings and the Scout Troop learnt new bushcraft skills on Sheen Common. They also entered the County Cooking Competition and adventured to White Spider for some exciting climbing.
The Burton Explorers tried out cooking some Polish food (it looks pretty good!) – many thanks to Julia for organising, while the whole Group also attended the annual Remembrance Sunday event at the War Memorial in Sheen in November. The traditional Group photo was taken afterwards and Keith presented Cub Leader Matt with his Wood badge for completing all his leader training – well done Matt!
The Group also held a bag packing day at the Sheen Waitrose in December to raise funds for our garage renovation project. Thanks to all who gave up their Saturday and also those who gave donations to the Group.
Finally, Rob, our Scout Leader, was awarded a Jack Petchey Foundation Leader Award. The awards “Celebrate volunteers who go ‘the extra mile’ to support young people, they recognise the incredible commitment of adults who support young people, going above and beyond the every day at their schools and youth organisations and exemplify dedication to the group.” Many congratulations Rob!
